WOODCRAFT Bribie and District Woodcrafters Association Incorporated The Association, which is incorporated under the Association Incorporation Act 1981, came into existence on 4th October 1996. Management committee This committee is charged with the general management of the association in accordance with the rules and by-laws approved for the purpose of the incorporation. Management Committee meetings are held monthly on the third Tuesday. The present Committee comprises:
Premises Rear of Community Arts Centre Sunderland Drive Banksia Beach Bribie Island Qld 4507 Workshops - Demonstrations Training sessions for members are held regularly during the year in all aspects of woodworking. Volunteers are called to help on Craft Fair open day, the fourth Sunday of each month 8.30 a.m.-12.30 p.m., and demonstrations with other Arts and Craft Fair from time to time.
Meetings Are held on the second and fourth Tuesday each month, 9.00 a.m.-12.00 p.m. Socials and functions Are regularly organised where club members and family can meet for barbecues, dinners and outings to other woodworking groups and woodworking shows. Club goals To foster and promote an active interest in all matters relating to the history, development and artistic expertise of working in wood with interested citizens within the Bribie District. To raise funds for club activities and for the improvement of the association. Where agreed, raise funds for charitable organisations, research, and community projects, which will further the standing of the association in the community. Exhibition and competition Each year the Bribie and District Woodcrafters hold its annual competition and exhibition in the Matthew Flinders Gallery. 2008 Exhibition starts 14th to 26th October, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm (closed Monday 20th) Workshop schedule
Tuition Is provided free of charge to members in areas of woodturning, carving, scrollwork, pyrography, marquetry, finishing techniques and many other aspects of woodcraft. A fee of $2.00 is applicable for each workshop session, payable on the day, to help pay for equipment maintenance and the use of club resources. Courses a fee of $2.00 each week is applicable, plus a charge for timber and parts usage and manuals, payable in advance of the course start date. |
